There’s something magical about spooky season that makes it one of the most
beloved times of the year. Maybe it’s the crisp autumn air, the crunch of leaves
underfoot, or the way the world transforms into a cozy mix of orange pumpkins,
flickering candles, and mysterious shadows. For some, it’s all about the thrill of a
good scare, haunted houses, ghost stories, and movies that make you sleep with
the lights on. For others, it’s the comfort of oversized sweaters, warm drinks,
bonfires, and the excuse to embrace all things weird, witchy, and wonderfully
spooky. Here in NOVA, it’s all of that and more!
Regarding Imposter Syndrome, as referenced on the cover, Imposter syndrome is
something almost every college student experiences at some point, whether
they’re first-generation or continuing a family tradition of higher education. It’s
easy to feel like you don’t belong, that everyone else has it figured out, or that
you’re somehow not smart enough to be in the room. The truth is, you don’t have
to know everything to belong in college. First-generation students may face the
added challenge of navigating unfamiliar systems without a family roadmap, but
asking questions, seeking support, celebrating small victories, and reminding
yourself how far you’ve come can help quiet those doubts. Remember, everyone is
learning as they go, and feeling like an imposter doesn’t mean you don’t belong.
You earned your place here, and you deserve to take up space!
